Well the Holidays have definitely been fun with a 5 year old and now 3 year old. We started getting into the mood over Thanksgiving when we drug the tree out and started to decorate. The kids aren't that patient and didn't understand why Mom spent almost 3 hours doing the lights. Once I was done and itching all over from the tree limbs it was time to put up the ornaments. That time will definitely stick with me for a long time. Katie was cute and sang Jingle Bells as she put on the ornaments. Zachary's favorite thing to do was hang the ornaments with pictures of him. Of course in the end a good % of the ornaments were on the bottom concentrated on the right hand side. I did get choked up though when at the end Zachary said "Oh it's so Beautiful".
During the weeks leading up to Christmas we did some fun things. We went to see the Parade of Lights, baked cookies and even went to see some Christmas lights. Since I was a kid I have traditionally always made sugar cookies for Christmas. There is something fun about making the dough, throwing sugar and flour on the counter, cutting the shapes and finally icing the cookies. When I asked the kids what colors of icing they wanted for decorating, they said yellow and blue. Not really holiday colors, huh. Along with sprinkles I let the kids pick out a candy to put on the cookies. Zach chose M&Ms, Katie picked Hershey Kisses and I chose Hot Tamales. At the begining Zach loved using my Hot Tamales - that is until he tried one. Not such a fan after that. They definitely tasted yummy. For Christmas lights we went through some neighborhoods around us. I think the kids favorite house was the one where you could turn on a certain radio station and the lights flashed to the beat of the music. Fast songs were greatly appreciated. I think I must have made it a little too toasty in the car as Zachary feel asleep within 15 minutes of leaving.
On Christmas Eve we got all dressed up and went to the 5pm service at Church. Although my kids were a little rowdy walking around in the cry room during the service, they were being quiet. That didn't stop the lady on the first row though in the room from telling them to hush. She even took away the hymnal from them since she didn't think they were treating it properly. If the room wasn't full and it wasn't Christmas, I might have said something. Once we got home from Church I did let the kids open up one gift. That definitely satisfied them until morning. Might I mention that we actually got a white Christmas which I was excited about.
On Christmas morning we woke up and opened gifts. Zachary loved his basketball goal and hockey equipment and Katie really liked her Dora Mermaid doll. Traditionally I will try to make a big breakfast on Christmas morning. It was biscuits and gravy and hash browns this year. Yes I tried making hasb browns possibly for the last time. It is way too much easier to buy them.
For lunch we went to Vince's dads and then off to my parents for dinner. By the end of the day the kids were exhausted but we had a great time.

Kid Quotes
Well, we are now moved into our new place. We have the basics set up and I know it will take a few months to get all the boxes unpacked. Luckily it is time for Christmas and I know I can quickly decorate. At least I have a little motivation of unpacking some of the boxes as I won't be able to park in the garage until then and it's cold outside in the mornings. With the move Katie upgraded to a big girl bed. For the first 4 nights she has slept in her bed and Zach in his. I'm praying it lasts.
After last night I have discovered why you don't put a shower head with a hand held sprayer in a kids bathroom. Zachary was taking a shower by himself and I let him be for a few minutes while I was in the room next door. Normally he plays in the shower for over 20 minutes - I've discovered that since we have foam numbers and letters for the tub that stick on the wall he sometimes plays school in the shower. Now that Zach is almost 4 feet he can reach the hand held shower handle and get it down. Well after hearing a strange noise I went to the bathroom and was shot with the sprayer as I'm standing outside the door. I won't repeat what came from my mouth next. The floor/toilet/walls were all soaked. I quickly turned it off and made him dry off and start soaking up the water on the floors. Over 5 bath sheets were just drenched with water and he had the biggest grin on his face. Needless to say we might be taking tubbies for awhile.
Even after getting upset with him last night, he did melt my heart this morning. When I dropped him off at daycare, he hurried into the building into his class. As I was walking out after taking Katie to her class I passed him and he waved and said Bye and love you. That's enough to brighten my whole day. My wish would be that he never gets too old or embarrased to tell me that in front of his friends. I think I'm dreaming a little too much.
You know there is always cute/memorable things that the kids say that you treasure and want to remember. Here are a few from my kids:
1. Katie - "Mom, you my baby" She says this to me and got it from her Mimi. Mimi tells Katie that I was here baby.
2. Zachary - While playing bingo, he will call out the number 56 and call it "fivety six".
3. Zachary - I asked Zachary to share his drink with Katherine. He let me know "you don't share with sisters".
4. Katie - Anytime Katie likes something she will tell you "That's my favorite" or "That's Perfect".

Fall Sports
Well, this past Saturday Zachary had his first soccer game. Unfortunately, due to the rain they had not even practiced, not once. How would he do at his first game? Well fortunately he had some of the kicking basics down, unfortunately his issues focusing came out. He did a great job running up and down the field with a big smile on his face (I think it was cute), unfortunately he was not always following the ball up and down the field. He did actually kick the ball a few times, of which he was very proud of himself and actually said "Mom I kicked the ball" right after he did it.
I'm not sure why the coach decided to do it, but every week practice is on a different night. If anyone knows my son he is very schedule oriented. We do things on certain days of the week. He is having a tough time getting it down that practice this week is on Tuesday when it was Thursday last week. I'm sure once practice comes around he will be ok.
It is cute to see Katie wanting to play soccer to. Boy does she look up to Zach. We got her her own Pink and Black ball that she likes to kick around. I'm sure that she will want to play once she turns 3. The other day when Zach was getting ready for his game, he put on his shin guards and pulled up his socks. Next thing I know Katie had her socks pulled up just like him:)
On Saturday night we did get to go to our last baseball game of the season. I was really looking forward to the Mercy Me concert. Well unfortunately we got there a little late but I knew I could catch the end of the concert. While we were walking up to the gates Mercy Me started playing "I Can Only Imagine" which has a special place in my heart. It is the song I would listen to at 3am in the morning when I was up feeding Zach after he was born. Unfortunately once we got inside the gates and Zachary realized we were changing course and not going to our baseball seats, the flood gates opened. He kept on crying throughout the rest of the concert. Oh well, at least I got to hear the song I really liked.

Labor Day Weekend
Well - we ended up having a great weekend. We got to go swimming at the pool with the slides - which is Zach's favorite. Plus we celebrated family Birthdays yesterday with a Luau at my sisters.
I think my favorite time of the weekend though was playing hide and seek with the kids. I can remember playing as a kid and always worrying that I wouldn't find anyone. Well with my kids that is not a problem. Not only do they tell you where they are going to hide they also make noise when you are a room away. Zachary really liked me hiding under the sheets on the bed and would tell me to go hide there when it was his turn to come find us. I did get an earful once though when Katie came to hide with me. It was cute to see her under the covers looking at me going "SHOOOSH". Then a few seconds later she would hear Zach coming and then pull the sheet off, sit up and scream. Zachary would then come and tickle us (he at least is getting gentler than he used to be) and the game would start over again. I will say that I did scare Zach once when I hid behind the door and jumped out and spooked him while he was looking for me. He ended up falling down, luckily not hurting himself:)
